🍽 Makes 6 🕘 30 minutes Difficulty: Beginner

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp yeast

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • ½ cup of lukewarm water

  • 3 cups of plain flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ pack of silken tofu (175g)

  • 1 Tbsp vegan butter

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced (optional)

To brush:

  • 1 Tbsp vegan butter

  • 2 garlic cloves

+ oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the dry yeast, raw sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy.

  2. Add plain flour and salt and mix the ingredients. Add the vegan butter, minced garlic, and silken tofu. Combine until it forms a ball.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic, adding a little bit more flour if necessary to prevent sticking. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.

  4. Once the dough has doubled in size, divide it into equal-sized balls. Roll out each ball on a floured surface into a naan-like shape.

  5. Heat an iron skillet pan over medium-high heat. Brush the pan with a little bit of oil and cook them in the pan for around 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are puffed up and have golden brown spots.

  6. In a small bowl, mix the melted vegan butter, minced garlic, and salt. Brush this mixture over the cooked bread while they are still warm.

  7. Serve the garlic naan bread warm and enjoy with your favorite curry or dip. Enjoy this delicious homemade garlic naan!
